| As a magician, I am fortunate in being able to see both sides of the magic spectrum. I love the fact that I get to participate in marrying the experience of magic with an audience. Often times, the audience has no idea how much goes into creating, a fun, exciting routine that provides wonder.
But even I learn new things, every day as a matter of fact. Just yesterday, I was treated with a little surprise when headed to what I thought was an adult party. I had prepared myself to dazzle with mentalism and sophisticated magic and was surprised (and delighted) to find that half of my audience were children. I was a little nervous to see if my handful of my predictions and comedy would go over for the wee ones. Dig this though... they loved it! It turns out that kids are just little adults... to some extent :)
Now, I am not suggesting that this magician is going to do the same for birthday parties and children's shows. It's quite the opposite. I think the magicians should KNOW their audience. And every day, I am learning more and more... even twenty years into this business, I am still treated to new experiences.
