Construction has commenced on a $7 million project to bring fiber-optic internet to Stratford, Connecticut. This initiative, led by GoNetspeed, aims to provide 100% fiber internet access to over 12,400 homes and businesses in the town. The project is funded by GoNetspeed's $7 million private investment, marking a significant step towards improving connectivity in the community.
The ultra-fast fiber internet service, designed to support multi-gigabit speeds, is expected to be available to consumers later this fall. This will empower Stratford residents and businesses with reliable, next-generation connectivity, enabling innovation, education, and entertainment.
Tom Perrone, Chief Operations Officer at GoNetspeed, expressed enthusiasm for the project's progress, stating that thousands of residents and businesses are now closer to accessing GoNetspeed's ultra-fast, multi-gigabit fiber internet. The fiber-optic network will bring cutting-edge technology directly to Stratford, ensuring high-speed, symmetrical upload and download speeds ranging from 500 Mbps to 2 Gbps.
Stratford is one of many communities in Connecticut gaining access to GoNetspeed's service. The company is committed to expanding its fiber networks across 11 states, including Connecticut, with a focus on delivering more fiber, access, speed, and reliability to residents and businesses. This expansion joins other communities like Ansonia, Bridgeport, Danbury, East Haven, New Haven, and Hartford in the initiative.
